Box Hill: An archive of Memories
Publication design
This brief involves creating a publication that investigates and documents a sense of “place”. In this instance, this publication explores Box Hill, and the chinese community that lives within it. Being Chinese, this publication explores Box Hill from an angle of cultural familiarity, and seeks to present the unique cultural nuances within the suburb that are usually lost to an outsider.
The presentation of my observation is delivered using a series of photographic documentation, typographic illustrations, and an archive that documents personally meaningful objects. Through these techniques, it explores Box Hill’s people, signages, as well the objects found within the suburb. It also seeks to present a platform to celebrate these nuggets of cultural uniqueness.
