The brief of this project involved the exploration of how to communicate concepts in a digestible way for children. The project I created, ‘Laundry Time!’, is an illustrated book for children that aims to demystify the process of laundering clothes. The book targets children aged 4-6 and takes them through a journey from start to end on what goes into this process. The project takes an illustrative approach in visualising the information presented, and explores different colours, typography, and textures.
To make the book stimulating for children, I designed a friendly character called Linto, inspired by the lint from dryers, to act as a consistent element and middleman for relaying the information. By breaking down this staple yet somewhat perplexing task, it aims to involve children in these necessary household chores and increase a sense of independence through awareness so that they can incorporate themselves in household activities.
